I cannot compare sheets from different files (for example the accounting systems of different years / subsequent years): I cannot have two Banana files open at the same time. The automatism of closing of the year is very useful. The graphs help to visualize trends along the year.
The intial coding takes time but it is very effective for entring transactions The colours of writings and backgrounds help to distinguish different ledgers in the same administration. Once a bit of training is done it is very versatile, in managing accounts, especially when it comes to double entry accounting system. This gives us an instrument to analyze critically wages, loss or gain in the purchasing power of staff salaries versus the cost of living/supplies, during specific periods of the year PROS The double entry accounting system with mutliple currencies helps our administration to reconcile donations given in hard currency and how the inflation in the local currency affect the disbursement of cash. The Banana Accounting system helps to maintain day to day, monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheets for the whole hospitlal and for the different Donors. They avail a budget which enters into a sytem of liabilites. I am running the accounts for a private not for profit hospital, relying mostly on external donors to whom project proposals are submitted.
